Endowment Fund
The S.S. Lane Victory Endowment Fund is for the perpetuation
of the objectives of the USMMVWWII in maintaining the S.S. Lane Victory as a
memorial to merchant mariners and naval Armed Guard for the benefit of the
public at large. It is funded exclusively by gifts from members and from the
public, both individuals and corporate entities. Funds are maintained separately
from the USMMVWWII Corporation’s general account and are invested in interest
bearing accounts. Earnings from the endowment fund are transferred to the
corporation’s general fund annually. Unless specified by the donor, or until a
unanimous vote of the board decides otherwise, the principal of the endowment
funds remains intact in the fund bank account or investment. A committee
appointed by the board administers the fund. All checks drawn on the fund
account require the signature of one committee remember as well as the signature
of the corporate treasurer, or in his/her absence, the president. The committee
has the duty to develop plans for dissemination of information about the
endowment fund and the solicitation of donations.
We were notified by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense that we are authorized and
eligible to receive loans and/or donations of material [rifles], pursuant to
Title 10 United States
Code 2572.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the
Armed
Forces - the Navy,
Army, Coast
Guard, et al., for all their help in the 3 years it took to locate and
transport all of the armament to the Lane Victory Ship.
