The museum on the Lane Victory is one of the finest maritime and WWII museums in the United States. The upper portion and overhead of the hatch itself are festooned with the flags of different states, countries, shipping, and oil companies. Display cases are placed around the hatch against the sweat boards. They are filled with displays of WWII artifacts and ship memorabilia, such as ships' clocks, sextants, life boat compasses, oil lamps, pressure gauges, taffrail logs, maritime uniforms, Merchant Marine medals & decorations, Very pistols, hand held line throwing guns, and many others. There are newspapers in display racks dating back to 1940 to 1946, with WWII articles and headlines about the war. There are articles and artifacts about Cal Ship Yard where the Lane Victory and many more Victory and Liberty ships were built on Terminal Island. There is also a display case in honor of the U.S. Coast Guard. A MURMANSK PQ17 layout shows the names of all the ships and the routes taken to Russia, the names of all the ships that were sunk, and the ones that made it through. All Merchant Marines who made the MURMANSK run are entitled to a medal from the RUSSIAN Government. There is a large poster of the British Merchant Marine, and picture and articles on Sheepshead Bay Maritime School. Video of Ivo Duval - Murmansk Run Veteran
